North Glynn Recreation Complex ("North Glynn") is a 153-acre park developed and managed by Glynn County. The park opened in the early 2000s and provides a wide range of outdoor recreational amenities, including four lighted softball fields, four lighted baseball fields, five lighted multi-purpose fields for football and soccer, tennis courts, pickleball courts, a dog park, disc golf course, skate park, playgrounds, pavilions, and a one-mile walking trail. North Glynn is maintained and operated by the Glynn County Recreation and Parks Department ("GCRPD"). North Glynn is the County's second-largest park and is one of its most heavily utilized facilities for active recreation, organized athletic leagues, and tournaments. GCRPD offers youth and adult recreational athletic leagues at the sports complexes during the fall season (August–November) and spring season (February–June). In addition, third-party organizations regularly rent the athletic fields for non-County tournaments, primarily on weekends from March through early December. The park's other recreational amenities are open and utilized year-round by residents and visitors. In 2010, safety netting was installed in the plaza areas of the baseball and softball complexes to provide protection for players, spectators, and other park patrons from errant balls. Due to years of continuous use and exposure to the elements, the existing safety netting has required repeated repairs and patching. The netting has now deteriorated to the point that it is worn and damaged beyond repair. Replacement of the existing safety netting is necessary to maintain a safe environment for players, spectators, staff, and other park patrons. The proposed project will include the installation of new safety netting with ball-return sleeves in the plaza areas of the baseball and softball complexes. The new system will provide improved protection from errant balls, enhance the functionality of the facilities, and reduce the potential for injuries and property damage. The project is supported by the Glynn County Board of Commissioners and will help ensure that North Glynn Recreation Complex continues to provide a safe, high-quality recreational facility.
