Solicitation # RFA-OD-27-009
The National Institutes of Health Office of the Director is offering a limited competition funding opportunity under solicitation RFA-OD-27-009 to renew the Research Evaluation and Commercialization Hub (REACH) program. This initiative aims to accelerate the translation of academic biomedical discoveries into tangible products that enhance public health and patient care by funding the creation of academic entrepreneurship Hubs. These Hubs will provide innovators with essential seed investment, mentorship in product development, and resources for proof-of-concept work to advance high priority technologies aligned with the NIH mission. Selected Hubs will operate as a consortium to establish infrastructure for identifying promising technologies and provide funding for product definition studies, such as prototype development and feasibility research. They will also offer expertise in regulatory, business, legal, and project management areas while fostering skills in entrepreneurship. Success in this program relies heavily on the establishment of public-private partnerships and the acquisition of non-federal funding. Eligible organizations must submit their applications by November 11, 2026, and will undergo a standard peer-review process to determine merit for funding.
