Notice of Intent for Intaglio Plate Grinders

The Treasury Common Services Center-Acquisition Center intends to award a sole source Firm Fixed Price contract to Koenig & Bauer Banknote Solutions for the procurement of five new Intaglio Plate Grinders, essential for the production of United States currency through the platemaking process. Three grinders will be delivered to the Eastern Currency facility in Washington, D.C., and two to the Western Currency facility in Fort Worth, Texas, with all equipment required to meet strict technical specifications outlined in the Statement of Work. The contract will have a five-year period of performance, consisting of a twelve-month base period followed by four one-year option periods, with delivery and installation of all grinders required within 360 days of award. The contract is being executed under FAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii)(b) as a sole-source procurement, with no competitive solicitation planned, and response materials must be submitted via email to designated Treasury contacts by 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on July 10, 2026. Hazardous material labeling and Safety Data Sheets must conform to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1200(g) and (i), with all packaging and documentation in English. Battery handling must follow BEP procedure 75D-03.0-02. Equipment must operate on 220/380 Volt AC, 60Hz ±5% power with U.S.-standard plugs and comply with international standards such as CE. Installation requires successful Factory Inspection Test and Bureau Acceptance Testing conducted by BEP personnel, with final acceptance contingent upon training completion, resolution of all punch-list items, and compliance with BEP security regulations.
