Full Description

The Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Directorate, intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis in the amount of $31,457.52 on or before approximately 30 September 2008 for the purchase of eight (8) handheld radio units to be used for internal communication and in conjunction with DOD emergency response forces at the National BioDefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. The authority for this sole source award is FAR 6.302-1 - there is only one source that can provide these services and products to DHS. The contract will be awarded to Superior Communications, Inc. located at: 704 East Gude Drive Rockville, MD 20860 Pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1 cited above, Superior Communications possesses the unique knowledge and understanding of the secure frequencies and secret encryption requirements associated with the DOD's vast radio communications network. The network is also subject to proprietary regulations. The period of performance for this requirement is from the award date through September 30, 2009. This notice is NOT a solicitation for proposals or quotations; however, any entity that believes it has the expertise and licensure necessary to perform the required services may submit a letter via e-mail to the Contracting Officer identifying their interest in the requirement and their capabilities.
