Full Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION USING OTHER THAN FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION QUANTA RAY PRO 290-10 Nd-YAG PULSED LASER REPAIR. The solicitation number is FA8601-13-T-0124. The NAICS Code is 811219. The size standard is $19M. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii). The proposed sole source is Newport Corporation Spectra-Physics Division for the repair and replacement of several parts on the Quanta Ray Pro Laser. Newport Corporation is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of this laser and due to the proprietary nature of the design specifications of this laser, Newport Spectra-Physics is the only known source capable of conducting this repair. The contractor will be providing xenon flash lamps, a marx bank assembly, electrical control components, and the labor to perform the laser repair. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, any quotation received within five (5) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
