NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE-SOURCE TO AVID

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Office of Procurement Services (OPS), in support of the Office of Public Affairs (OPA), intends to award a Delivery Order against GSA Schedule No. GS-35F-0638J on a sole source basis for to AVID Technology, Inc. located at 1101 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 600, Washington, D.C. 20004-2514. The proposed contract action requires a vendor to upgrade existing AVID editing systems to meet high-definition broadcast and DOL streaming standards. The AVID systems serve as the core of OPA's editing facility. As with any sophisticated multi-dimensional computer hardware/software system that interfaces with and is integrated in a TV routing, switching and production environment, these systems require periodic proprietary upgrades to continue to meet broadcast standards. The statutory authority for this sole source procurement is FAR 8.405-6(b)(1).
