The United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service intends to enter into a sole source contract with Johnson Controls in Omaha, Nebraska, for the installation of a water-saving secondary piping loop on a chiller. Because Johnson Controls originally installed the unit and manages its warranty, they are the only authorized provider capable of performing this specific service modification without voiding the warranty. This notice serves as an intent to negotiate and is not a request for competitive proposals. However, other firms capable of meeting the requirements may submit a substantive statement and supporting literature to the Contracting Officer, Donita Furman, within 10 days of publication. The government will review any such submissions to determine if the project can be opened to multiple capable vendors.
