The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to negotiate exclusively with Dell Federal Systems L.P. to add specific Dell PowerEdge MX7000 system brand cables to their existing Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) with Dell. These cables are open market items, proprietary to Dell, and critical for connecting the unique Gigabit interface converter (GBIC) with Dell’s exclusive 9116 switching technology used in SSA’s PowerEdge MX7000 platform. The total estimated purchase value for these cables will not exceed $200,000 over the remaining term of the BPA. This sole source action is supported by Federal Acquisition Regulations that permit contracting with a single source when only one source is reasonably available and allows adding open market items to a Federal Supply Schedule BPA for administrative convenience. The specified cables include various lengths and types of Dell Networking 2x 100GbE QSFP28-DD Active Optical Cables and other proprietary cables designed to meet the Government’s exact technical requirements. Other manufacturers cannot provide equivalent products due to the specialized nature of the connectivity required. Interested parties were invited to respond with documentation demonstrating their capability to fulfill the requirement by a June 24, 2019 deadline; however, the Government reserves the discretion to determine whether or not to compete the order and will not provide notification of the outcome. Submissions were limited in size and were to be sent via email to the designated SSA contact.
