Repair and Installation services for the Heat Exchanger System on a Bruker 9.4 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system
Solicitation # 75N98026Q00967
The National Institutes of Health, National Institute on Drug Abuse’s Intramural Research Program is conducting market research to identify qualified sources capable of providing emergency repair parts and installation services for the Triple-loop Heat Exchanger System on its Bruker 9.4 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner, which has failed and requires immediate replacement to prevent catastrophic magnet quenching. The requirement specifies a brand-name or equal heat exchanger that must interface seamlessly with the existing scanner software, building water supply, magnet cryomech, gradient, and shim coil cooling systems while ensuring stable cryomech operation and maintaining magnet pressure at 1040 mbar. All components must be new, unused, original equipment manufacturer parts authorized by Bruker Corporation, and installation must be performed exclusively by Bruker-certified technicians to preserve the MRI system’s existing warranty. The contractor must deliver and install the system within three months of order receipt, with a one-year warranty covering all parts, labor, travel, and including one preventative maintenance visit. Responses to this sources-sought notice must be submitted electronically by August 12, 2026, and must include detailed capability statements addressing each technical requirement separately, with supporting documentation on company size status under NAICS Code 334516, employee count, personnel qualifications, relevant government contracts, and complete contact and SAM.gov registration information including UEI and TIN. The notice explicitly states that no award will result from this action and that responses are not proposals or quotations. Companies must identify the place of manufacturing and confirm compliance with the Non-Manufacturer Rule if applicable. Proprietary or sensitive data should not be included, though any claimed proprietary information will be safeguarded. Responses are limited to ten pages excluding cover page and references, must reference solicitation number 75N98026Q00967SB, and be sent exclusively to Josh Lazarus at josh.lazarus@nih.gov. All respondents must have an active SAM.gov registration, and while small businesses are strongly encouraged to respond, the government retains full discretion on whether to pursue a competitive or non-competitive acquisition path based on the feedback received.
