The United States Air Force is conducting market research to identify potential sources for the new manufacture of the KC-135 Ruddevator Boom, with a maximum requirement of 300 units valued at approximately $22.16 million. This effort is aimed at increasing competition and determining if the requirement can be fulfilled through a Small Business Set-Aside. Interested vendors must register their interest by selecting the “Add Me to Interested Vendors” option and demonstrate capability in providing all necessary labor, materials, facilities, and equipment to produce, inspect, test, package, and ship the component. Vendors are also expected to manage supply chain logistics and address challenges such as long-lead time parts procurement and diminishing manufacturing sources. Participation is limited to companies holding a current license or agreement with the original equipment manufacturer, Boeing. This Sources Sought Synopsis does not constitute a solicitation but serves as an information-gathering tool for the government to decide the best acquisition strategy. The anticipated solicitation was expected in April 2022. Responses to this notice may influence the approach to procurement but do not guarantee a contract award or solicitation. Vendors must submit relevant licensing or agreement documentation to the designated Air Force email and direct queries only to the specified contact. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this requirement is 336413, covering other aircraft parts and auxiliary equipment manufacturing, with the SBA size standard set at 1,250 employees.
