ODNR - Geo Survey - Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV)

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is seeking to acquire an Uncrewed Surface Vehicle (USV) to gather high-resolution side scan sonar and single beam echosounder data in the shallow waters along the Lake Erie shoreline. This initiative is crucial as it targets areas where traditional research vessels, like the RV Erigan, cannot safely operate, thereby enhancing the Division of Geological Surveys’ hydrographic research capabilities in these challenging environments. The contract requires the selected contractor to supply a USV outfitted with specialized technology suitable for use in very shallow, nearshore waters. All equipment must meet current industry standards and be fully compatible with hydrographic research requirements. The project’s period of performance will begin upon contract execution and continue until all deliverables are complete and accepted, with potential for earlier termination as outlined in the contract. The primary work area is restricted to the Lake Erie shoreline, specifically zones deemed unsafe for manned vessels. Bidders must adhere to all applicable legal standards, including environmental regulations, and provide proof of registration and appropriate insurance as detailed in the contract documentation. The estimated contract value is between $50,000 and $150,000, and proposals are due by May 23, 2025.
