2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant
Solicitation # 2139681
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is administering the 2026 Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Program, funded by a federal appropriation of 857,629 dollars. This program provides matching grants to eligible rural fire departments for the purchase of wildland firefighting suppression supplies. To be eligible, departments must be comprised of at least 80 percent volunteer personnel and serve a rural area, defined as a town or village with a population of 10,000 or less based on the 2020 Census. Selected departments can receive a maximum award of 3,500 dollars, which must be matched 50/50 by the recipient. Grant funds must be used for items directly related to wildland firefighting that benefit the local rural community, with a restriction that no individual item exceeds 9,999 dollars. Selection is based on the department's funding history over the previous five years, whether it is a newly formed establishment, and the presence of a Native American community within its jurisdiction. The program operates under federal guidelines from the US Forest Service and the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act of 1978. Applications are accepted through December 30, 2026. This solicitation does not have specific goals for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, Minority, Women, or Disadvantaged Business Enterprises. All inquiries and applications are managed by the Volunteer Fire Capacity Grant Coordinator within the Division of Forest Protection.

They are designed with slip-resistant treads and come in various sizes to accommodate different foot widths, ensuring all investigators have suitable footwear for their demanding tasks. The solicitation, posted by Ohio’s Department of Public Safety, has a contract value estimated between $50,000 and $150,000, with a response deadline of September 25, 2024. Globe Supreme 14” Structural Firefighting Boot Justification:FEIB Investigators conduct fire scene examinations in heavily damaged structures in less-than-ideal conditions. Comfortable and safe footwear is an essential part of their scene wear ensemble that keeps their feet warm, dry, and protected from sharp, unseen objects…including coverage of the lower leg.  Most FEIB Investigators are currently wearing these boots that were purchased a year ago and they continue to work extremely well for them.  Due to the increased volume of callouts, investigators are oftentimes having to go from one scene to another in the same day, as quickly as possible.  They do not always have time to clean their boots and using the same pair of boots from one scene to the next will cross-contaminate the second scene.  It will also provide them a back-up pair in case one set is punctured or rendered unusable, as boots are an essential item for every investigation. The requested boot is designed for structural firefighting and is considered one of the most comprehensive boots on the market in terms of safety and comfort.  The Globe boot has a proprietary HEELPORT system along with a 3D footbed system that allow it to be the best fitting boot on the market. These systems are additional, critical features that make this boot appropriate for more long-term wear…specifically for the investigation of fire scenes. All boots are regular calf width and have slip-resistant tread.
