The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory is seeking information from industry to identify capable vendors for a Cryogen-free, superconducting, variable field MRI Rock Core 3D Imager capable of non-destructive, high-resolution imaging of subsurface rock cores and flow studies. The system must support multi-nuclei analysis including hydrogen, carbon, lithium, sodium, and fluorine, and deliver accurate measurements of key reservoir properties such as capillary pressure, porosity, bound water, wettability, and relative permeability using NMR data. This instrument is intended to replicate subsurface pressure and temperature conditions to enhance modeling, risk assessment, and environmental research related to energy storage and hydrocarbon recovery. The request is strictly for market research under FAR Part 10 and does not constitute a solicitation, proposal request, or commitment to award a contract. No pricing, cost data, or formal bids are to be submitted. Responses must include a one-page cover page with the company’s name, address, contact details, UEI number, CAGE code if applicable, business size classification, and country of manufacturing, along with a capabilities statement not exceeding 19 additional pages that demonstrates alignment with the technical requirements in Attachment A. All submissions must be received by 4:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time on August 11, 2026, via FedConnect Portal or email to David Lahey at NETL, in Word or PDF format with specified formatting. Responses are limited to capability information only; no reimbursement is available for submission costs, and no feedback or evaluations will be provided. Participation is voluntary and does not affect future eligibility to respond to a potential Request for Quotation. Assistance with FedConnect must be obtained directly from its support line, as the Department of Energy does not provide technical support for the portal.
