Scope: The City of La Mesa, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), invites San Diego County artists and artist teams to participate in the Artist to Work Program. This initiative aims to beautify public spaces and celebrate La Mesa’s vibrant and diverse community.
This open call seeks qualifications from talented individuals or teams for projects that infuse creativity, color, and connection into public areas throughout the City.
This program will result in the creation of permanent and temporary public artworks, significantly enhancing La Mesa’s identity and providing opportunities for local artists to contribute to the visual landscape of the community. Artists may be considered for more than one project, depending on qualifications and artistic style.
Qualified artists are invited to submit an online response to the City no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Notes: Questions related to this RFQ must be submitted through the PlanetBids system and will only be accepted through 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Please submit proposals online in the form of scanned documents through PlanetBids. Only submissions made through the online system will be accepted.
All proposals are due no later than by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered.
To submit you must be registered in the City of La Mesa's online vendor database at cityoflamesa.gov/bids and download the RFQ Packet.
City of La Mesa normal hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fridays. City offices are closed alternate Fridays and holidays including December 5, 19, 24-31, 2025, and January 1-2, 2026.
