Sandia National Laboratories, the lead research and development laboratory for the Department of Energy's physical security needs, is seeking one or more business partners in rapid prototyping, combustion, and materials fabrication to further develop Sandia's Particulate Filter and Low-Binder Slurry technology. Sandia is seeking a company or companies to commercially license the technology described in this posting. Commercial licensees will have the opportunity to obtain a license to the intellectual properties for reasonable compensation. It is expected that the company(ies) that works with Sandia to develop the Particulate Filter and Low-Binder Slurry technology will promptly incorporate it into a commercial product. Potential partners must provide Sandia information describing their ability to research, design, develop, manufacture, distribute, market, and service fully functional diagnostics systems. Sandia has developed a method of making a three-dimensional lattice structure, such as a filter used to remove particulates from a gas stream, where the physical structure is designed using software simulation and is fabricated using a free-form fabrication manufacturing technique. This technique can be used to design and controllably fabricate the lattice structure to meet the necessary heat transfer, mass transfer, and pressure drop characteristics required for a filter for exhaust applications. To express interest in this opportunity, please respond by mail to Adam Heying by 31 August 2010 at: Sandia National Laboratories, MS 0114, P.O. Box 5800, Albuquerque New Mexico 87185-0115, E-mail: aheying@sandia.gov, Phone: (505) 284-4101. Please indicate the date and title of the FBO notice. Include company and contact information, as well as a description of how your company meets Sandia's criteria and could best contribute to the formation of a CRADA partnership or license and the subsequent commercialization of this technology. Sandia National Laboratories is a multi-program laboratory managed and operated by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, for the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration under Contract DE-AC04-94AL85000. SAND# 2010-5189P.
