LCS MRG RENK Engineering Support

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) is seeking engineering services for the lifecycle management, modernization, and in-service support of RENK Main Reduction Gear (MRG) models BUSL 261, ASL 2/160, BOS 156, and ASL 95, along with their shipboard auxiliary systems. The scope of work includes technical investigations, failure analysis, product improvements, and the development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs). The contractor is responsible for providing logistics support, such as updating technical manuals and Approved Parts Lists, as well as program management and field service engineering. Due to the specialized nature of the equipment, the requirement emphasizes the need for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) expertise to ensure operational readiness and safety. Performance is split between contractor facilities (approximately 60 percent) and aboard ships (approximately 40 percent), with potential travel to sites including San Diego, Mayport, Bahrain, and Singapore. Key personnel requirements include a Program Manager and a Mechanical Engineer with specific expertise in RENK reduction gears. The contract mandates strict adherence to security protocols, including Tier 3 clearances for personnel, the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) per NIST SP-800-171, and the use of the eCRAFT system for invoicing and financial reporting. All work must comply with NAVSEA technical manuals and DoD standards for counterfeit material prevention.
