The contract PA 37227 with Merck Sharp and Dohme is being extended for an additional six months, from April 1, 2025, through September 30, 2025, with an added value of approximately $17.16 million. This contract facilitates the purchase of vaccines for underinsured children and those enrolled in Child Health Plus across all counties in New York State, excluding New York City. Vaccines are procured at CDC-established prices, ensuring cost-effectiveness and consistency. The extension is necessary to maintain vaccine availability during a non-competitive procurement process with all CDC contract manufacturers, which is scheduled to commence on October 1, 2025. The exemption from advertising is justified due to the sole-source nature of the award, given Merck’s status as the exclusive award recipient. This procurement is critical for ensuring uninterrupted access to pediatric vaccines for vulnerable populations statewide. The contract, managed by the NYS Department of Health, is set within a range of approximately $17.16 million to $34.33 million, reflecting the scope of vaccine purchases. The solicitation was posted on August 6, 2025, with responses due by August 13, 2025. The primary contact for inquiries is Kiersten Westbrook, the Health Program Administrator 2, accessible via email. The contract supports statewide public health efforts by maintaining vaccine supply continuity during the transition to new CDC contract arrangements.
