Petaluma 2015-2023 Housing Element

The City of Petaluma is implementing the Petaluma 2015-2023 Housing Element project, which focuses on two primary objectives. First, it involves a comprehensive update to the City of Petaluma Housing Element as part of the State's 6th Cycle Regional Housing Needs Assessment allocation for the planning period from January 31, 2023, through January 31, 2031. This effort includes the creation of a housing sites inventory to demonstrate how the city will meet its allocation, though it does not propose physical development or formal land use changes. Second, the project entails the Housing Element Implementation Program, which consists of zoning text amendments to update the regulation of residential care facility land uses. These updates are required by state law and directed by the City's certified Housing Element. The project is managed by the City of Petaluma Planning Division and has been certified to have no significant environmental effects in accordance with CEQA, as documented in the Notices of Determination.
