Plan Bay Area 2050+ (Regional Transportation Plan/Sustainable Communities Strategy for the Nine-County San Francisco Bay Area

Plan Bay Area 2050+ is a long-range regional initiative serving as the 2025 Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy for the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area. Managed by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments, the plan integrates transportation, land use, economic, and environmental strategies to accommodate future growth while enhancing regional equity and resilience. The project timeline spanned from initial engagement in summer 2023 through the approval of final blueprint strategies in January 2025, with final plan certification and adoption expected in early 2026. Performance is supported by various supplemental reports covering equity analysis, tribal engagement, and transit forecasting.
