The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to conduct negotiations on a sole source basis with Strata Safety Products LLC, 3939 Roswell Road, Suite 350 Marietta, GA 30062 for purchase of two Fresh Air Bay Portable Mine Refuge Chambers. In 2007 The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) conducted an engineering simulation test on portable mine refuge chambers. This test simulated a human occupancy for 96 hours and determined if the chamber could provide a stable atmosphere with the pre-defined engineering limits that were set. At the conclusion of this test, it was determined that the Strata Safety Products Fresh Air Bay was the only portable mine refuge chamber that maintained its atmosphere. The solicitation documents are not available. Responsible sources that believe their product possesses capabilities identified above should submit to the Contracting Officer, within 15 days from the posting date of this notice, their capabilities statement and supporting information in the format they choose. Please forward the product information and supporting information to: Mary Pat Shanahan, CDC, NIOSH, 626 Cochrans Mill Road, Pittsburgh PA 15236, mpu0@cdc.gov. If no affirmative responses are received then negotiations will be conducted with Strata Safety Products LLC.
