NAVSUP Fleet Logistic Center San Diego plans to issue a sole source purchase order to Hawthorne Machinery Company for the power train rebuild and refurbishment of a 2001 Caterpillar bulldozer D7R II used by Amphibious Construction Battalion One. Hawthorne Machinery is the exclusive Caterpillar dealership in the San Diego area, which allows them to provide original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, faster procurement, and warranty services due to onsite work at the dealership. This sole source action falls under the authority of FAR 6.302, given the proprietary nature of the equipment and parts, and is aligned with FAR Part 12 and Part 13 procurement methods. The contract is categorized under NAICS code 333120, and the applicable business size standard is $7.5 million. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes but serves to inform interested parties that the government may solicit information to decide whether to pursue a competitive process. Responses to this notice, including company details such as CAGE Code, DUNS number, NAICS code, and tax ID, were due by August 28, 2014.
