AI Contract Overview

The contract pertains to the Precision Sniper Rifle (PSR) program, for which the vendor is required to develop a fixture to securely hold their PSR submission during testing. The rifle will be tested in its fully configured state, both with and without a suppressor, using the vendor-supplied fixture for holding and firing. Additional guidance regarding the firing fixture will be provided in the near future. The Department of Defense, specifically the U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) office in Tampa, Florida, is seeking qualified vendors through a sources-sought announcement in preparation for a formal solicitation anticipated to be released in January 2010. Vendors interested in the PSR requirement are encouraged to direct any questions to the designated contract specialists, Tiffany Garfield and Verdetta Weaver, who hold the roles of Contract Specialist and Contracting Officer respectively. The solicitation under NAICS code 332994 signals a focus on non-standard manufacturing, supporting the development and testing of specialized sniper rifle systems. This initiative appears to be part of SOCOM’s effort to procure advanced sniper rifles that meet stringent operational requirements.
