The contractor shall develop and test design changes required to the Preset Power Subsytem (PPSS) interface to increase the fault tolerance of the Control Signals between the two Display and Control Subsystem (DCSS) Versa Module Eurocard (VME) subracks and the two Peripheral Control Logic (PCL) Type 2/3 assemblies in the Mod 6/7 Fire Control System. The Contractor shall conduct activities required to design, document and validate the new design. Negotiations will be conducted with General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems (GDAIS), Pittsfield, MA. GDAIS is the sole manufacturer of the TRIDENT (II) D5 Strategic Weapon System (SWS) Fire Control System and Attack Weapons Control System and the only source with the in-depth knowledge, expertise, and in-place capability to perform the required effort.
