The National Institutes of Health, specifically the National Institute of Child Health and Development in support of the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive, and Kidney Disease, intends to award a non-competitive purchase order to Coherent Laser Group. The contract is for preventive maintenance services of the Chameleon Ultra II Laser system located at the Laboratory of Cellular and Developmental Biology in Bethesda, Maryland. This procurement is conducted under simplified acquisition procedures for commercial items, as the government has determined that Coherent Laser Group is the only responsible source capable of satisfying the agency requirements. The agreement is classified under NAICS code 811219 and follows a performance structure consisting of a one-year base period with four optional one-year extensions. The total value is expected to remain below the simplified acquisition threshold of 150,000 dollars. While this is a notice of intent to award without full competition, interested parties were invited to submit their capabilities and OEM certifications by November 3, 2017, to determine if a competitive procurement process was warranted.
