AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) plans to award a contract without full and open competition to procure a CEM Peptide Synthesizer, specifically the Liberty Blue 2.0 system. This automated microwave peptide synthesizer is designed for Fmoc solid phase peptide synthesis, capable of handling scales from 0.005 to 5 mmol and reaction vessels between 30-125 mL. The system offers advanced features including a Discover single mode microwave reactor with self-tuning capability, multiple ports for amino acids and other reagents, precise reagent delivery using Flex-Add technology, and innovative vessel cleaning processes to enhance peptide purity. An optional camera feature is also available to visually monitor the reactions during synthesis. This procurement is conducted under simplified acquisition procedures with a value not exceeding $350,000, using the authority to solicit from a single source. Interested parties may submit statements of capability, technical proposals, and cost information by June 22, 2026. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 334516 and managed by the NIH Office of Acquisition and Logistics Management. Responses are to be submitted electronically to the contracting officer, James Law, and must demonstrate bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. The government retains discretion on whether to proceed non-competitively or open the procurement for competition based on responses received.
