The ID Epidemiology and Prevention Branch (EPB) aim is to (1) Conduct surveillance, research, modeling and forecasting activities to better understand and monitor the epidemiology of influenza viruses and disease; (2) improve understanding of the effectiveness of influenza antiviral, vaccines, and non-pharmaceutical interventions ; (3) assist state and local health departments to conduct surveillance and with activities related to the detection and response to emerging and novel influenza viruses; (4) support influenza vaccine policy development with ACIP and other groups; and (5) support influenza pandemic preparedness activities, regional teams and cross-cutting program and technical support teams.
