Publish Articles within topic of Global Forecasting

The Office of Naval Research intends to award, on or about 28 Sep 09, on a sole source basis, a firm fixed price purchase order for one year to the Oceanography Society, Rockville, MD. The award will be made using commercial item and simplified acquisition procedures. The Oceanography Society shall review and publish various articles on the topic of Global Ocean Forecasting that government grant awardees (scientists) have written. The intent is to have these articles published in a magazine issue and have the magazines distributed to the Office of Naval Research, universities, and libraries. This action is intended to be awarded without competition for the following reason. The Oceanography Society is a non-profit organization who contains vast knowledge on reviewing, editing, and publishing literary works within the field of ocean science. The Oceanography Society was founded in 1988 and created for the intention to disseminate knowledge of oceanography and its application through research and education, to promote communication among oceanographers, and to unite individuals within all the disciplines of the field. The Oceanography Society accomplishes these goals by publishing a magazine that promotes and chronicles all aspects of ocean science and its applications. This notice of intent/synopsis is not a request for competitive proposals, and solicitation documents are not available. All responsible sources, however, may submit a capability statement or proposal, which shall be considered by ONR. See Note 22.
