The CDC’s National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Hunt Optics and Imaging for the acquisition of an Evident Stereoscope, as it is the sole authorized distributor of Evident/Olympus Life Sciences Microscopes, ensuring warranty coverage, authentic parts, and authorized servicing. No competitive solicitation will be posted due to the exclusive nature of the product, as alternative sources cannot provide the required equipment with legitimate manufacturer support. The acquisition is justified under FAR Part 12.102(a), and the government will not open the procurement to other vendors unless written capability statements from responsible sources received by the deadline demonstrate an ability to meet the exact requirements. All inquiries must be directed to Liubov Kriel at vyh1@cdc.gov with solicitation #2026-Q-97212 referenced in the subject line, and responses must be submitted in writing by the deadline of August 6, 2026. The decision to proceed without competition rests solely with the Contracting Officer, who will evaluate any submissions solely to determine if a competitive process is warranted. The procurement is under the CDC Office of Acquisition Services, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, with performance located in Georgia, and no set-aside provisions apply.
