Purchase Of Fire Suppression Flares

The U.S. Forest Service, North Zone Interagency Fire Cache procured on a sole-source basis, various flares and cartridges from Firequick Products, P.O. Box 910, Inyokern, CA 93527. This was an emergency procurement for the North Zone Interagency Fire Cache in support of firefighting efforts in Northern California. Firequick Products is the sole manufacturer and distributor of these products. Firequick holds a patent for these items. The total dollar amount of this award was $35,146.66. Authority for this single source procurement is FAR 13.106(b)(1)(i) for purchases not exceeding the simplified acquisition threshold, Contracting Officers, may solicit from one source if the Contracting Officer determines that the circumstances of the contract action deem only one source reasonably available (e.g., urgency, exclusive licensing agreements, brand-name or industrial mobilization). This notice is not a request for competitive quotations. No solicitation document is available and telephone calls will not be accepted. Any firm that believes it can provide the supplies listed may submit substantiating documentation in writing to the identified point of contact.
