The purpose of this action is to award a sole source modification to contract W9124Q-06-C-0123. This modification will add additional funding to the contract in support of ongoing tasks. Future requirements will be synopsized and competed.The contrac t provides all labor, management and support necessary for supporting the Rapid Equipping Force (REF) in the successful accomplishment of its mission. REF has received a new task to create a cell to review energy uses and provision concepts, to evaluate al ternatives and provide the warfighter more efficient mechanisms from which to operate with the primary focus to decrease the amount of fossil fuels being transported and consumed. This is intended to provide Transparent Demand Reduction combined with Appro priate Energy Provision that allows the combatant commander to reduce risk to his combat forces on lines of communication. This particular request is necessary to provide the necessary expertise for REF to continue its mission.
