R -- Longitudinal Study

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award, on a sole source basis, a Purchase Order to The University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, Texas. The purpose of the purchase shall include services related to a longitudinal study of opportunistic enteric parasites in order to identify risk factors in AIDS patients. The services will include conducting a study, collecting demographic data, screening samples, and providing a progress report. The authority for this procurement is FAR Part 6.302-1, the University of Texas is the only responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The period of performance shall commence on September 1, 2003 through August 30, 2004. This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. Firms that believe they can provide the required services are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the contracting office within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
