The U.S. Geological Survey’s Upper Midwest Environmental Sciences Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin, is planning to acquire advanced radio and acoustic telemetry tracking devices for monitoring fish, birds, and other wildlife. This procurement supports critical administration priorities such as protecting the Great Lakes from invasive carp, enhancing public safety and security, and addressing human health concerns through improved environmental tracking. The equipment to be acquired includes Innovasea brand acoustic transmitters and receivers, which offer real-time and logged data capabilities to monitor animal movements, behaviors, and surrounding environmental conditions. These tracking devices are available in various sizes and frequencies, including options at 69 kHz, 180 kHz, and 307 kHz, and can be equipped with sensors to detect acceleration, predation events, and other environmental factors. The data collected are vital for understanding species migration, habitat usage, and survival rates, thereby supporting the Center’s ongoing conservation and management research efforts in the Midcontinent region. The solicitation, identified under NAICS code 334511, is forecasted for acquisition, with Sean Jones serving as the point of contact for both general inquiries and small business participation.
