The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) seeks information on Commercial-off-the -shelf (COTS) spectroscopic radiological/ nuclear detection and identification systems, also referred to as Human Portable Tripwire (HPT) systems, in support of a United States Border Patrol (USBP) Checkpoint Concept of Operations (CONOPS) Pilot. HPT systems are Spectroscopic Personal Radiation Detectors (SPRDs) as described in the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard 42.48. HPTs are intended to be worn by operators as standard equipment, providing a passive or "tripwire" capability for constant, non-deliberate scans to increase the operator's ability to detect and/or identify radiological and nuclear (rad/nuc) material. HPT systems should be easy to use, highly reliable and capable of operating in a wide range of environments. HPT systems must also function as personal protective equipment, providing a warning to the operator of potentially harmful levels of radiation. Respondents to this request must respond via email to Justin Briones, Contract Specialist, at justin.briones@hq.dhs.gov and Willie Lindsey, Contracting Officer, at willie.lindsey@hq.dhs.gov, NLT 3:00pm EST, Wednesday, February 27, 2013.
