a) Replace turbine raw water piping supplying generator piping. This includes all valves, fittings, solenoid valves, flow switches, and modulating valve. The generator air coolers are to remain and reconnected to the new pipe. The electrical connects to the solenoid valves and flow switches will be new. b) The thrust bearing oil coolers will be replaced including the supply and discharge piping for the coolers in the thrust pot. The RTD's shall be replaced and tested. This work will be coordinated with powerhouse personnel for them to drop the thrust pot for access to the coolers. c) All raw water piping in plant shall be replaced as indicated. d) Contractor shall demolition the existing penstock drain lines, piping in the sump, piping in the penstock room, and the generator cooling piping. e) Re-plumb the penstock drain lines to the new location. Contractor shall plumb in the direct feed to the new discharge line, the gravity feed into the sump, the feed to the sump jet pump, and the feed to the generator cooling piping which includes the new valves, check valves, and jet pump. f) Contractor shall install the new valves in the sump including the extended manual actuator to elevation 370.0 on each embedded line. Contractor shall install all the new pumps and connect them to the discharge header. g) Contractor shall remove the oil skimmer and install in its new location including the new piping and electrical. h) Contractor shall demolition the old electrical and control system and install the new electrical and controls in the MCC on elevation 396. i) Contractor shall install new float system to control the sump level which will control the four sump pumps, jet pump, and alarms. j) All hangers and supports, running through the plant, shall be replaced with new 304 or 316 stainless steel hangers and supports included rods, bolts, inserts, anchors, etc. Anti-seize shall be applied to all threads. k) All raw water supply piping in the plant, generator air cooler supply and discharge piping, thrust bearing supply and discharge piping, supply and discharge piping from the air conditioning and power tunnel coolers, and thrust bearing alternate supply piping shall be insulated. In the penstock room, the generator cooling piping, penstock drains, and all feeders shall be insulated. All insulation shall have a PVC jacket. Only pipe not insulated is in the sump. l) Once existing pipe is removed, embedded pipe shall be inspected using a camera in the specified locations as shown on the drawings. Depending on the findings, additional inspection may be required. Camera shall include a laser profile attachment. Contractor shall submit the video of the pipe and the profile output. Contractor shall specify his procedure for measuring pipe thickness. m) After the camera inspection of the embedded pipe, hydro-cleaning of the pipes may be required if authorized by the Government. n) Contractor shall provide a new monorail A-frame hoist system on wheels above sump to remove pumps. o) Lead-based paint abatement and painting shall be done only in areas where work is performed or where damage has occurred under this contract. Contractor shall take samples to determine if lead is present and create abatement plan accordingly. p) All ferrous materials shall be painted according to specifications. Due to environmental conditions in plant, piping below floor EL. 407 shall be painted before insulation and PVC jacket is installed. q) Asbestos is expected in the pipe insulation and possibly in old wiring. Friable asbestos has been identified in gaskets. Contractor shall take samples to determine type and create abatement plan accordingly. r) Contractor shall perform all inspections and testing as required in this contract. s) Contractor shall provide training for the plant personnel. t) Contractor shall provide as-built drawings and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
