Full Description

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (Corporation) plans to issue an Invitations for Bid (IFB) for a contractor to furnish all plant, labor, equipment and materials for removing at least three (3) and up to five (5) existing steel stairways, including landings, handrails and structural supports, and replacing them with new fiber reinforced polymer stairway systems at specified cable riser recess locations. The cable riser recesses are located within the concrete lock walls, are approximately 6 ft. x 10 ft. x 60 ft. deep or 6 ft. x 10 ft. x 100 ft. deep and have limited accessibility from the gallery level or through composite steel/concrete recess covers located on the top of the lock walls. The contractor shall be required to protect exposed air, water and electrical utility lines in the cable riser recesses during the project. Lead paint abatement may also be required during the removal of the existing steel stairways. The IFB will be released on or about May 14, 2015, with a response date of approximately June 15, 2015. The estimated start date is June 29, 2015 and the estimated completion date is September 04, 2015. The cost range is between $500,000 and $1,000,000.
