Wood chips shall not be left in piles exceeding four (4) inches. C.5.2 Levees are used for flood control and under no condition shall the crown or slope be dug, rutted or altered. Any equipment used at the base of slope or the top of the crown shall be used in such a manner to avoid damage. If mechanical cutters are used they must be of a size as to not to rut or cut through the soil. Dozing or uprooting will not be permitted. The contractor shall, at their expense, return all disturbed areas to the original gradation/slope, to include seeding and mulching of damaged areas and/or rutted sod resulting from the use of equipment. C.5.3 The Contractor shall apply Garlon 4 (or equivalent substitute, at the discretion of Project personnel) herbicide to all cut stubs, stumps, and stems. An adequate marker dye shall be mixed with the chemical in sufficient concentration to leave an obvious and durable stain on the treated stubs, stumps, and stems. All such stems shall be treated on the same day they are cut.
