RECOVERY - Biospecimen Core Resources (BCR) Providing Biospecimen Processing Services to The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA)

This contract provides support services for The Cancer Genome Atlas Program for the National Cancer Institute. The primary objective is to establish two Biospecimen Core Resource sites responsible for receiving tissue and data from Tissue Source Site networks. These sites will handle storage, quality control, processing into molecular analytes, and the shipping of high quality analytes to genome characterization and sequencing centers. The total potential value of the contract is 37,521,407 dollars, which includes an initial eighteen month base period funded by ARRA at 12,251,131 dollars and four subsequent option periods. Due to the imprecise specifications of the work and the difficulty in accurately estimating costs, the agreement is structured as a cost reimbursement contract rather than a fixed price mechanism to ensure flexibility and fairness in allowable costs.
