The Kansas City District of the Corps of Engineers awarded a task order modification to Cabrera Services, Inc. for environmental remediation work at the Wayne Interim Storage Site in Passaic County, New Jersey. Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, this cost-plus-fixed-fee action was processed as a non-competitive follow-on order to a previously competed multiple award contract. The modification provides an additional 85,000 dollars to ensure the completion of the original project scope. The scope of work involves the characterization and spot removal of contaminated soils along a storm sewer pipe under Black Oak Ridge Road, including the packaging and transportation of hazardous materials. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for the full removal and replacement of the pipe and three associated inlet boxes adjacent to the former site property. This cost-reimbursement structure was utilized due to performance uncertainties that prevented the use of a fixed-price contract.
