The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plans to modify an existing task order with Buccaneer Computer Systems to enhance and support the National Provider and Plan Enumeration System (NPPES) in compliance with the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act). This modification focuses specifically on upgrading the Identity and Authentication functionality within NPPES, enabling individuals to act on behalf of others concerning Medicare Enrollment and Incentive Payment actions. The original task order, which was awarded competitively as a Cost Plus Fixed Fee contract, already covers maintenance upgrades and operational support for NPPES, and CMS determined that these new requirements fall within the current contractual scope. This opportunity is exclusive to Buccaneer Computer Systems and is being pursued through a task order modification rather than a new procurement. The place of performance for the work is in Warrenton, Virginia. Point of contact information includes a contract specialist and a contracting officer from CMS, ensuring clear communication channels for the contract modification process. The initiative reflects CMS's commitment to updating critical systems necessary for managing provider enumeration and enrollment processes, supporting the broader goals of the HITECH Act to improve healthcare IT infrastructure.
