Full Description

This notice is for the award of a firm fixed price change order under firm fixed price task order W52H09-08-D-5005/0045 which was awarded to Russell Construction Co. Inc. of Davenport, IA on October 15 2009. The change order is to remove the 6 existing rows of stringers (supporting steel members) and replace them with 4 rows, two centered under each rail in order to carry the required train loads. During construction, the ballast material was removed on the railroad deck revealing the bridge stringers. The stringers are so corroded and in such bad shape it was determined that they will not carry the required loads that are necessary to support a train. The overall project is for the design of a deck, removal of the ballast and timber deck, inspection of the hidden portions of the floor beams, and construction of a new deck. This firm fixed price task order was awa rded under Contract W52H09-08-D-5005 which was awarded under full and open competition using best value source selection procedures to Russell Construction Co.
