The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) in order to obtain responses from members of the recycling hauling and processing community, sustainability experts, and other interested parties regarding the expansion of recyclable materials collection and processing in federal facilities located within the National Capital Region (NCR). NCR is defined as the District of Columbia, Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland, and Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties in Virginia. For the purpose of this contract it will cover approximately 126 facilities to be detailed within the scope of work. Materials eventually collected for recycling must be in compliance with all federal, state, and local recycling laws within the NCR. The primary objective of this RFI is to obtain information regarding options for recycling certain items, the cost of hauling and recycling them, and the financial and environmental impact of expanding the recycling program at government-owned and operated facilities in the NCR. GSA is interested in ideas and options for keeping the maximum amount of our total waste stream out of landfills, reducing waste disposal and recycling costs, and increasing recycling revenues. NOTICE: This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued for the purpose of market research only and does not constitute a solicitation. The General Services Administration (GSA) may use the information received to develop a future solicitation but the decision to do so is within its sole discretion. Any information received under this RFI shall become the property of GSA. No response to this RFI shall be construed as a quotation or proposal and respondents are solely responsible for all costs associated with the preparation of any submission.
