DHS FEMA MERS is purchasing REDCOM equipment ( 24 each MA0724-301 16 circuit Dynamic Board HDX, 12 each MA0531-322 Board, Basic Rate S interface, Network Side and 12 each MA0530-322 Board Basic Rate U interface, Network Side) as the REDCOM HDX is a secure switch that is standard across the MERS Detachments. The items to be purchased are part of the System that operates on a proprietary software and hardware. These items cannot be interchanged with any other vendor. And because of the lifecycle replacement last year of the REDCOM-HDX the additional items that are requested have to be of the same operating system in both software and hardware specifications. These requests are in line with strategic equipment standardization throughout MERs and meets the technical specification required for the system planning, operation and deployment requirements.
