The product must not contain mercury or mercury compounds except in limited functional components such as batteries, fluorescent lamps, sensors, or instruments specified by NAVSEA, with portable mercury-containing devices requiring shockproof construction and secondary containment in accordance with NAVSEA 5100-003D. Packaging must conform to ASTM D3951 unless superseded by higher-priority DLA technical requirements and must be marked and labeled to MIL-STD-129. Palletization follows RP001 DLA packaging standards. The item is designated as a critical application item and must be shipped to the DLA Distribution Center in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, with delivery verified at destination. All materials must comply with the government’s prohibition on intentional mercury addition and the full set of defense logistics agency requirements, including unit of issue and procurement specifications cited in the contract.
