AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the refurbishment of the front façade parapet wall, roof cladding, and windows of the U.S. Embassy’s historic Baroque Revival main building in Vienna. The parapet wall, located on the fifth floor (attic level) at a height of 23.25 meters and a length of 70 meters, has sustained damage, presenting potential risks from falling debris due to cracks, failing roof cladding, and deteriorated windows. The project aims to mitigate these risks by repairing the parapet wall and tiebacks, replacing damaged tiebacks, cladding, window frames with modern materials and double-glazed panes, and ensuring matching window metal flashing, all while maintaining the building’s historic exterior waterproofing boundary. Special access restrictions are in place: all work can only be performed externally, with entry to the attic from inside strictly prohibited, and an American escort must be provided at all times. The use of a lifting platform and adherence to strict safety and protective measures are required due to the height and location. The scope of work includes repairing parapet tiebacks, updating gutter connections, and correcting any gutter defects. The estimated contract value ranges between $25,000 and $100,000, and the solicitation specifies the involvement of general construction, roofing, and carpentry specialists for windows. The solicitation closes on August 21, 2025. Point of contact information is provided for further communication.
