The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), Public Buildings Service, Mid-Atlantic Region (Region 3), is hosting a virtual Industry Day focused on Low Embodied Carbon (LEC) projects, as part of its Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) initiatives. Scheduled for January 30, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EST, this webinar aims to engage a broad range of participants from small and large businesses, including contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and architecture/engineering firms. The session will provide detailed information about GSA’s $2.15 billion appropriation dedicated to materials such as asphalt, concrete, glass, and steel within the Region 3 geography. Attendees will learn about the LEC construction material requirements, environmental product declarations, embodied carbon considerations in procurement, and current projects planned by PBS Region 3. Participants will also have the opportunity to submit their comments and questions on the IRA topics, including the attached LEC Material Requirements and market trends, facilitating a collaborative dialogue with the GSA. Registration is required via a provided Google form link, after which attendees will receive access details for the virtual event. Additional resources and updates, including the Industry Day presentation, attendee list, and session recording, are available to support interested businesses in understanding and responding to GSA’s LEC sourcing and project forecasts. Key points of contact for this initiative are Carolyn Clements and Stephen Zorzi, who can be reached via email for further inquiries.
