Regular Overhaul

The Military Sealift Fleet Support Command, Ship Support Unit Guam, plans to award a sole source contract to Guam Industrial Services Inc. (DBA Guam Shipyard) for the Regular Overhaul (ROH) of the USNS ALAN SHEPARD (T-AKE 3). The previously solicited contract for the USNS RICHARD E. BYRD has been deleted from this procurement. The performance period for the USNS ALAN SHEPARD overhaul is set to begin on January 24, 2010, and conclude by March 7, 2010. Major work items under this contract include bilge well preservation, elevator pit coating, cargo potable water tank coating repairs, modifications to the high temperature freshwater cooling system, cargo hold 3 remediation support and structural modifications, anchor and anchor chain preservation, and renewal of non-skid surfaces on the flight deck and hangar bay.
