Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS), managing contractor of the Savannah River Site (SRS) for the Department of Energy (DOE) provides a special notice of acquisition need to acquire remediation work related to the R-Area Ash Basin. The basin is an earthen containment basin that received ash from a power house and is approximately 13 acres in size. The closure of the ash basin will require installation of erosion control measures, blending of stockpiled wood chips with a soil/ash mixture, consolidation and grading of ash, hauling, placement and compacting a soil cover that includes installing a vegetative cover of top soil and sod. Other activities include backfill hauling from a nearby soil stockpile, grading, backfill placement, compaction, survey activities including an as-built survey, providing the top soil, installing sod and vegetation of disturbed areas, installing sign posts, signs and concrete boundary markers. This acquisition will be a Small Business set aside GEM Technologies, Inc. (Knoxville, Tenn.). The company is a SRNS protege.
