User groups at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography (BIO), which includes Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Department of National Defense, National Resources Canada, and the Canadian Coast Guard, have a requirement for the rental of a fully operational Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) system consisting of: - an OceanusPro ROV (or equivalent) equipped with a single axis manipulator, - an ultra-short baseline acoustic positioning system (USBL, mountable and compatible with the ROV), - a forward looking SONAR system (mountable and compatible with the ROV), - and any associated equipment (i.e. tethers, umbilical, tag lines, etc.) required to perform the work described below. One spare system (fully operational) of all required equipment is also needed due to the nature of the work -- in a remote location with a limited time window to complete the mission. An experienced operator is also required to join the DFO/DRDC team during field operations in Barrow Strait, Nunavut. The mission objective is to inspect and recover two underwater cables in Barrow Strait (Nunavut).
