This contract involves the complete removal and replacement of thirteen existing elevators and three dumbwaiters, including all associated systems within hoistways and machine rooms. The contractor is responsible for providing and installing thirteen new elevators and three new dumbwaiters, ensuring that the entire conveying system is fully complete and operational before beginning the next phase of construction. The work must be executed in phases, with the first phase fully completed prior to progressing to the second. The new systems include elevator cabs, motors, control panels, guiderails, finishes, pit ladders, door support angles, lighting, electrical wiring, phone circuits, and ventilation/heating/cooling systems to meet code requirements. The contractor and manufacturer must design the new systems to be fully compliant with either U.S. or European elevator codes, with all life safety features incorporated into the elevator controllers. Only one manufacturer is allowed for all elevators and another for all dumbwaiters, prohibiting multiple manufacturers within the project. The installation must be adapted to existing site conditions and comply with specifications regarding quantities, locations, dimensions, and capacities. The project emphasizes experienced contractors familiar with geared electric traction elevators suitable for buildings with 2 to 10 floors and hospital-grade features for accessibility and non-ambulatory occupants. It includes thorough verification of existing conditions and requires all necessary labor, materials, and equipment to complete the installation at the specified location in Kabul under the oversight of the Department of Defense.
