The U.S. Department of Commerce, through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and its National Weather Service (NWS) National Reconditioning Center, has issued a purchase order for the repair of two rotary joints, specifically the azimuth 4-channel model with part number BS-2000-110-000 and ASN R400-2A1A3A9, manufactured by Diamond Antenna and Microwave Corporation. This procurement is conducted as a sole source acquisition, as the government recognizes Diamond Antenna and Microwave Corporation as the sole original equipment manufacturer capable of performing the required repair service. Extensive market research, including searches within the Small Business Administration Dynamic Small Business Search and the General Services Administration's eLibrary, found no small businesses or other vendors qualified to perform these specialized repairs. The contract references NAICS code 334419, relating to other communications equipment manufacturing, and is being managed by the Department of Commerce's office located in Norfolk, Virginia. The point of contact for this procurement is Adrian M. Hall, reachable via email and phone. This action reflects NOAA's need to maintain critical weather service infrastructure by ensuring the rotary joint equipment is properly repaired by the original manufacturer due to the unique technical specifications and limited availability of service providers.
